At the beginning of the year, House Speaker Mike Johnson shared a prayer on the House floor that he said was from was "a prayer for the nation" that Jefferson penned. Apparently, it never happened.
Instead, here is what he did have to say in a letter to George Logan on November 12, 1816:
I hope we shall take warning from the example and crush in it’s birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength, and to bid defiance to the laws of their country.
Doesn't sound like Johnson has Jefferson on his side.
